“Revival and reformation without repentance is just fanaticism, an excitement that will die out without effect.”

TEXT:

Chapter 17, Page 171 –

“Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter . . . ‘What shall we do?’” (Acts 2:37, italics supplied.)

Ah, yes, here is our question, with which we began this conversation: “What shall we do?”

Peter answered, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). From the beginning of our discussions so many conversations ago, I began as I did because the answer to “Do you know who you are?” and “Do you know what to do?” is “Repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit.”

Has the Holy Spirit pierced you to the heart? Do you know what to do? I pray that you do. Carefully consider all that you and I have discussed from the beginning before answering. Review Chapters 4-6, if you aren’t sure.

But please notice: Before revival and reformation comes repentance. The three R’s of coming into the Covenant Grace-Faith Relationship are repentance, revival and reformation. They have to happen in that order. Revival and reformation without repentance is just fanaticism, an excitement that will die out without effect.
