Chapter 17, Page 167 –

Jesus described the world of His disciples in Acts. 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria were certainly the world for Peter and John. But it’s not the world where most of us live.

So, let’s rewrite this description for your local world. “But you shall be My witnesses both in your local neighborhood, and in your home church and your county, and even out into the whole viewing area of your local television station.”

Do you understand? What Jesus told His disciples, He is telling you and me: The whole world begins here; the Holy Spirit’s power begins to work right here – first. The Holy Spirit can handle the world, but He wants us to be involved with our neighbors, in the neighborhood of our churches, in our town or in our county. Our world is our immediate surroundings; our world is our neighborhood.
